Tom´s Tank Making Instructions Day by Day

Day 1  Making the Base

With a measuring tape, you will mark a circle on the ground with a radius of 75 cm. Borrow some Cal (it is a white powder) or Arena (sand) from the house where you are working and outline your circle so that you don't lose your mark.

Note
: we live in an imperfect world and this will show the actual construction of one tank under less then perfect conditions.  Rocky terrain during the rainy season.

1.50 Meter Diameter

You will need to dig this circle down to a depth of 10 cm using a pico (pick) and pala (shovel).

If there are rocks in your circle, you will need to break them up and remove them.  It needs to be basically level.

The sand we use in the walls of the tanks needs to be a course sand, without rocks or dirt, both will cause the tank walls to leak

So some members will be sifting sand using the sernidor (screen) which is

We will need a total of 14 screened buckets of sand for day  two and three.

The gravel that comes out of the sand will be used in the tank bases and the floor.

The Base will use 10 Buckets* of material :  6 Gravel and 4 Un Sieved Sand

* Note: One Bucket = 22 liters (5 gallons),  One Bucket of Cement  = 1/2 Bag
