To make the tank base, once the circle is dug and level, you will need a piece of malla lac (wire mesh) 1.50 cm square to put down in the circle.

Note: If the ground is black dirt, you will need to spread an extra bucket of un screened arena (sand) in the circle before laying the malla lac in place.

The corner edges of the malla lac will be bent or cut to fit neatly into the circle.
If you have pieces of rocks left over from digging the hole put the small pieces into the circle.

Place some of the pieces under the wire mesh to lift it up out of the sand about 2 inches.  You should then wet down the sand with at least one bucket of water sprinkled on top of the malla.

With the hole dug and malla cut to fit, we must turn our attention to the cement mix.

Note: The base will be poured in two stages.

In the first pass you will need 3 buckets of gravel, 2 buckets of un-sieved un screened sand, and 1 bucket of cement.

Shown Above: This is a mixing  boat, if it is place with one end  near the hole it will  cut down on a lot of extra work!

The mixing boat is made out 2 meters of smooth sheet metal and two 1.80 meter x 15 cm boards.

The mixing boat has many advantages to mixing on the ground: Uses less water, uses less cement, hand mixing is faster, and impurities don´t enter the mix.

Now,  dump the buckets  into one end of a flat mixing boat which should be located near the hole.

It is then hand mixed with the shovel and the hoe. It is mixed by making 3 complete passes.
