Training Courses
AT - Appropriate Technologies
The Appropriate Technology program is comprised of several one to two-week training courses. Each course is designed to give the missionary valuable experience through classroom and practical instruction so they will be more successful on the mission field. These courses are offered at Equip's main campus in Marion, North Carolina, as well as at The Knoll in BC, Canada. Our Water Technologies courses are Water Filtration, Well Drilling, Pumping Water and WASH Community Training. We also offer other courses in Food Production Tech, Aquaponics, Farming God's Way/Foundation for Farming, CULTURELink, Physicians Course, TESL, Construction and Energy Efficient Shelter, MMI and CHE.
The main campus is located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Students are accommodated in a comfortable dormitory, and meals are provided unless noted. In the AT courses you "learn by doing," and our outside laboratory provides you with appropriate equipment and tools with which to learn with. There is a modern classroom on campus, and the internet is available.
MMI - Missionary Medical Intensive
MMI is a two-week course designed to equip missionaries with diagnostic skills and appropriate treatments. MMI enables the missionary to do physical exams, and to process the information gathered to come up with an accurate diagnosis, and a recommended treatment.
CHE - Community Health Evangelism
CHE is a five-day course that teaches missionaries to link evangelism with social development. Using CHE concepts, communities in any cultural setting are encouraged to identify their own problems of health, education, agriculture, microenterprise, etc, and then create their own solutions for these problems.
